Eric Chiang

Eric is a full time professional artist; his artwork has been exhibited in National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and Art Revolution Taipei in Taiwan, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas, Queens Museum, First Street Gallery, Governor’s Island in New York City, Blomfield Gallery in Boston, New Britain Museum of American Arts, Mattatuck Museum, MoCA Westport, Silvermine Guild Gallery, Housatonic Museum of Art, New Canaan Arts Center in Connecticut, and many public libraries &amp; galleries in Connecticut, New York &amp; Massachusetts. In September 2016, he was given a Citation from the New York State Assembly for his outstanding artwork promoting humanity. In addition to creating art that explores the meaning of existence, showing his empathy of panhuman desperation, love, connections, and hope, he is very active in leading organizations connecting individual artists as well as artists and communities.</p>

Living against this frigid, expansive universe, While striving for survival, we also seek the connection with others and the integration with the universe. Therefore, as a visual artist, I feel so passionate about depicting humans' struggle, despair, hope, and love; and in parallel, I am equally passionate about exploring human connectedness, and the nature's languages, stories, and power. Given any theme I choose to explore, I look to create a body of work that exposes multiple perspectives of that theme, using the approach most suitable for expressing the thoughts. This could mean anything in the spectrum – impressionism, photorealism, abstract (expressionism), minimalism, etc. To me, the style is not as important as the theme I want to convey, and I am grateful that I am equally fluent in most artistic approaches When I was a teen, every time I felt desperate or depressed, I always turned to Beethoven’s music. “Without his music, which witnessed his struggle, determination, love of humanity & the nature, this boy living 200 years and 10,000 miles apart wouldn’t have got inspired to strive on. I want to do the same using my art to inspire others” I thought. Thus, creating artwork that resonate with people for their desperation, love, hope & appreciation of both humanity & the nature has been the goal of my creation.
