"Shroud"

This painting is made by layering four separate images of deities from different religious mythologies that have been broken down into individual color channels (Cyan,Yellow, Magent and Black) as if they were to be printed. The individual layers each contain images that would be completely legible on their own but become abstract through the noise of the layering. I've always been interested in the didactic nature of religious art and in this piece I wanted to strip away any sort of context to see if anything legible would emerge as a result of layering the images on top of each other.
